Water Activities

Waupaca’s chain of 22 connected lakes, the “Chain O’ Lakes,” has been attracting visitors for generations. Swimming, boating, water-skiing, canoeing, sailboarding and fishing are all popular activities on the Chain’s 728 acres. Other popular spots include the Crystal and Waupaca Rivers, Shadow, Spencer and Stratton Lakes.

South Park

The public beach features a raft, diving board, slides and on-site lifeguards.  Be sure to listen for the ice cream truck music as it stops regularly at South Park.

Hartman Creek State Park

Entrance to this state park requires a state park sticker or daily use fee.  The sandy beach is 300 feet long.  The area has picnic areas and some shade.  Pets are prohibited on the beach, but can remain in specified areas.

Waupaca County has 240 lakes, 79 rivers and streams and 35 trout streams. Fish species present include:  bluegill, bass, Northern pike, walleye, muskie, crappie, sunfish, perch, and trout. Area water access information is available at the Chamber of Commerce.
